Bring the whole family to a fun and free day full of activities at the Museum. We invite you to celebrate Black History Month by learning about Black artists in MCASD’s collection. Inspired by the work of Black artist Mildred Howard (American, born San Francisco 1945), arrange colorful fabric flowers and stickers into your own blue bottle flower vase to share with loved ones.
Activities Include:
• 10 a.m. scheduled kid-friendly tour of the museum (max. capacity 25),
• 11 a.m. dancing with Disco Riot
• 12:30 p.m. Story time with La Jolla/Riford Library’s Ms. Katia (designed for young children and families. The story time includes art-related stories, songs, and rhymes)
• Music by local DJ
• Live painting by artist Rachel Rhone
• DIY edible cookie art made by Brooke Bartolon
• Games
Food offerings and transportation will be available. Museum admission is free from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for all visitors, with Prebys Play Day offerings happening between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Funding for Prebys Play Day is provided by The Conrad Prebys Foundation.
