From the San Diego Symphony:
Our special guest, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, best describes Prokofiev’s expansive, romantic and fiendishly difficult work, the Sinfonia concertante for Cello and Orchestra, by advising: “Buckle up! You’re in for a really wild and a really thrilling ride. There are such moments of raw beauty and simple chaos, which are surrounded by some of the more spiky writing. I think people will be pleasantly surprised.” And, as if that’s not enough, the evening ends with Beethoven’s famously riveting Symphony No. 5.
Note: gates for the Friday performance will open at 6 p.m.
Additional performance:
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 at the California Center for the Arts Escondido.
