Two firefighters were injured in an apparent stabbing attack Wednesday afternoon during a medical-aid call in the East Village.
A man pulled a knife or similar weapon and assaulted the emergency personnel shortly before 4 p.m. as they were trying to treat him for some sort of ailment near Park Boulevard and Market Street, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
An ambulance crew took the firefighters to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Police had a suspect in custody within 15 minutes of the altercation, SDPD Officer Humberto Hernandez said. The suspect's name was not immediately available.
