A late-season storm was headed toward San Diego County Thursday, meteorologists said.
"The first impacts to our region will occur early Friday morning as west winds increase over the mountains and deserts,'' according to the National Weather Service.
By Friday evening, rain is likely, the agency said, adding that showers should taper off Saturday morning.

— NWS San Diego (@NWSSanDiego) April 24, 2014Total rainfall from the storm should be mostly light. The NWS forecast less than 0.15 inches of rainfall in most coastal and valley areas and up to 0.75 inches along coastal mountain slopes.
The snowfall level is expected to fall to around 4,500 feet by Friday night, with 1 to 3 inches of snow possible on the highest mountain peaks.
"The trough of low pressure (will exit) our region by Sunday, with drier and much warmer conditions arriving for the upcoming next week,'' the NWS said.
