Former San Diego Charger superstar Shawne Merriman who recently signed with WWE is throwing some punches, but not inside the ring just yet.
Instead Merriman has taken a jab at Nike, suing them for what he claims to be using his trademarked nickname "Lights Out" on a new clothing line.

According to a release on Monday from Merriman, in 2006 he and the apparel giant were in talks for a "Lights Out" clothing line, one that never happened.
Nike decided to release the clothing line regardless.
Merriman's company Lights Out Holdings LLC filed a suit asking for an injunction and up to $2 million dollars per item.
“I made things official by securing the federal rights to my LIGHTS OUT trademark and have been using it ever since. I am suing Nike as a last resort, not only to protect my brand, but to protect other athletes who are trying to develop a brand after their professional career, like myself."
According to UT San Diego, the case has already been assigned to San Diego Federal Court Judge John Houtson even though there is no scheduled court date.
