Forty drivers were cited for allegedly talking on cell phones as part of a push by police in Chula Vista to nab distracted motorists.
Patrol officers set out from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday to catch drivers talking on their cell phones, according to Chula Vista police Officer Alicia Chudy.
Additionally, one motorist was caught driving with a suspended license and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days, according to Chudy, in a statement.
Chula Vista police received funding for the operation from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
