San Diego Chargers Game Versus New York Giants In Danger Of Broadcast Blackout

Coming off the NFL's first television blackout of the season, the Chargers announced Monday that next Sunday's home game is also in danger of not being televised in San Diego.

The Chargers fell around 5,300 short of selling the number of tickets required to televise Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on local television, even though the team was still technically alive for a playoff berth and the 1963 American Football League championship team was honored at halftime.

It was the first time all season that an NFL team had run afoul of the league's blackout policy, which requires a virtual sellout 72 hours before kickoff. The priciest seats at Qualcomm Stadium are exempt from the rule.

According to the Chargers' official Twitter account, around 4,500 tickets remain unsold for the next home game on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Four home games were blacked out last year in San Diego.
