UC San Diego ranks 12th and San Diego State University is number 92 on Kiplinger magazine's list of the 100 best college values for in-state students, it was announced today.
For pupils from out-of-state, the schools ranked 21st and 87th, respectively.
UCSD costs about $24,600 annually for in-state students, and $47,500 for others.
The costs at SDSU are $18,300 and $29,500, respectively.
Kiplinger's rates the schools based on a combination of academic quality and affordability. Criteria includes SAT and ACT scores, admissions and graduation rates and tuition costs.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill heads the rankings for the 10th year in a row.
