Tom Fudge: If you follow the news closely there’s a good chance you know the name of Steve Estrada. I first met Steve seven years ago, when I was a reporter, covering a news conference about a possible trolley link to the beach. He’s a landscape architect by trade. But more than that, he’s one of San Diego’s urban visionaries. He’s author of the Balboa Park Master plan. He was deeply involved in refining the plans to expand the San Diego Zoo. He’s a father of two children. A respected businessman, and now, he’s decided he wants to become a woman.
With so much to fill his life, and so much to lose, why would anyone make such a difficult and dramatic decision? We are joined by Steve Estrada and Patricia Wodowski. Steve, by now, needs no further introduction. In fact, he’s appeared on These Days several times before. Patricia is a psychiatric social worker with a specialty in gender disorders.
